Young Masters at Sphinx Fine Art 2013

Once again, this coming October, the Young Masters Art Prize exhibiting at Sphinx Fine Art, London, where it will be making its final stop of the year.

This year the exhibition forms the final stop of the highly successful Young Masters Tour 2013. The exhibition will be curated by Daisy McMullan, (MA Curating, Chelsea College of Art and Design), curator of the Young Masters Art Prize 2012.

Exhibiting artists will include last year’s winner, Lottie Davies, runner-up Georgia Dodson, and 2012 shortlisted artists Charles Moxon, Fabiano Parisi, Christoph Steinmeyer, Derrick Santini, Nina Fowler, Jane Hoodless and Karina Chechik. Works by 2009 shortlisted artists Charlotte Bracegirdle and Lluis Barba will also feature alongside selected artists, including Elise Ansel, Jamie Lumley, Aileen McEwan, Sun Ae Kim and Nicole Etienne. We are also very excited to introduce artists Andrew Bruce, Bex Massey, Rodolfo Villaplana, George Morris, Lian Zhang and Cyrus Mahboubian to the Young Masters project for the first time.

The Young Masters Art Prize has a long standing relationship with Sphinx Fine Art, whose beautiful Old Master Gallery in Kensington Church Street has hosted annual exhibitions combining their stunning collection of Old Master pieces with the innovative, contemporary works of the Young Masters artists. This inspiring show will juxtapose a diverse approach to the art of the past by global, emerging artists with works by well known Old Masters, including Turner, Brueghal, Hals and Teniers.

The Young Masters Art Prize is a unique, not-for-profit biennial competition open to international and UK-based artists who combine skill and innovation with awareness of the Old Masters and art of the past. It aims to give global recognition to artists in the early stages of their career.

The Tour 2013 follows the second edition of the Prize in 2012, which included exhibitions at Sphinx Fine Art in October 2012, and exhibition and prize ceremony at Gallery 27 on Cork Street in November, with 26 shortlisted artists presented alongside three guest artists: Yinka Shonibare MBE, Ali Assaf and Lluís Barba.

The Exhibition Runs from Tues 8th Oct – Wed 23rd Oct, 2013
Opening Hours: Mon – Fri 10am – 6pm,  Sat 11am – 4pm, or by appointment

A Private View will be held on Tuesday 15th October from 6pm – 9pm
